On December 3, 2012 members and guests gathered at the new Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA) space in Dorchester, designed by Studio G Architects. MAHA is a non-profit organization which promotes public and private investment in affordable housing and educates and equips first-time homebuyers. The Annual Meeting featured a presentation by the nation’s leading bank regulator, Thomas J. Curry, Comptroller of the Currency, who praised MAHA’s work with homebuyers and community organizations.
The MAHA building contains administrative offices, classrooms and meeting spaces, and was designed to be environmentally sustainable and highly flexible. We were happy to learn that the layout effectively accommodates multiple programs and helped contribute to the success of the recent Annual Meeting. According to MAHA executive director Thomas Callahan,
“…The building performed as designed! We had 96 people in the multi-purpose room (comfortably I might add) and we also served a buffet dinner after the meeting in the area outside the counselors space as well as using the second floor common areas for a pre-meeting.”
