Reclaiming Boston’s Waterfront as Civic Space

Thanks to Shirley Leung of the Globe and architect Alex Krieger for bringing a laser focus on Dry Dock 4’s opportunity for public space.  Krieger’s proposal for a park with pool and recreational boating fits well with using the site for water transportation, bringing residents and visitors to the park and Harbor Islands National Park.

Combined with Charles River Conservancy’s proposed swimming pool in the river, it would bring world class public spaces to our two waterfronts.  It would align Boston with Berlin, Copenhagen and other cities that have reclaimed their waterfronts for civic space.
