Staff Spotlight: Lindsay Gray, LEED BD+C

Lindsay_Gray2As part of an ongoing series introducing our fabulous new designers, Studio G is happy to welcome Lindsay Gray to our staff! Lindsay brings a rich background in housing and residential design, as well as childcare and early learning centers, and a passion for sustainable design that positively impacts communities.

Lindsay bravely faced our Studio G Questionnaire and tells us why lefties shouldn’t be left behind, and how The Brady Bunch inspired a career in design…

What are your interests/ hobbies/hidden talents? I’m an avid fermenter of food.

What is your design philosophy?   Simple, concise yet comfortable

If you could redesign anything, what would it be? Right-handed-centric tools.

What is your favorite book and/or movie? The 1929 Vertov documentary, Man With a Movie Camera

Has your career taken you anywhere you didn’t expect? Yes, but more interestingly, my husband’s took us to Hawaii for two years.

What is your favorite piece of architecture? Zumthor’s Thermal Baths at Vals in Switzerland. It’s my goal to go for one of my benchmark birthdays.

When did you first become interested in architecture as a possible career? Mike Brady (of The Brady Bunch) seemed to have a pretty sweet gig. But in retrospect, I realize I was always interested in space. I used to draw building plans before I knew what they were called. I just wanted to figure out how spaces fit together.

Which talent would you most like to have? Insurmountable courage and the ability to play the drums.

What is your favorite destination? The Road to Hana on Maui – to me, it’s Earth at its best.
